"Vote for Sweet Baby Jesus or go to Hell"????? Give me a f-ing break.
I know, humorous statements about baby jesus and hell have no place on the Internets!
I agree that those posters were pretty uppity... but JUST IN CASE, since i dont want to risk hell, i voted for sbj :)
The posters are the only reason I didn't vote for "Betman"...oh also because it sucked.
well regardless of how you felt about our film, good luck on yours!
We just got back from the last screening. There were a lot of great films this year, probably more than I've ever seen come out of Houston. It really makes me proud to be a part of this thriving community. Cheers!

damn uppity filmmakers that make films... you and your filmmaking... and making of films... damn you, you're the worst because you make films... not like the others, who just magically turn in a film and..
There once was a time, long ago, in a magical land! Where all was fun! And the 48 hour organization said to all the teams, "Go forth and promote your film to get votes on screening night, and have fun with it, some people even dress up!"
Ahh, alas those days are gone with the unicorns, gingers, and safe s*x.
We are truly in the last days, where anonymouses are foaming at the mouth, viciously attacking strawmen.
You know, I just didn't buy it when Darth Vader told Luke that he was his father? Can you believe that? You think George Lucas thought any of this through?
Oh wait, wrong blog.
sorry,
Mitch
Your film was very creative and very well done...but the posters were out of line at a "public" screening.
To the last commenter:
First off, thank you for the compliment! The team worked incredibly hard over the weekend, and I'm sure they'll appreciate the kind words.
I have to ask you (and this is an honest question), have you been involved in the competition before this year? The reason I ask is because in the past years, this kind of promotion is not uncommon.
Before the posters went out, we understood that there were two ways a person could take the poster: Religiously or satirically. So however you thought we meant it and got you upset, we actually meant the other way. So see? It's just miscommunication!

PS. I'd love it if everybody would log in to comment, or just leave your name at the end of the comment. I welcome all, but it would be easier to keep track of who's who with a name...
All of you who were offended or just feel the need to come to the blog to fling your (insert whatever you want to because I don't want to offend folks unintentionally) and anger--
Where were you 3yrs ago when we started posting our posters?
Better yet-- where were you in 2005 when the 48Hr Film Project came to Houston for the first time? Back when the 48hr organizers actually prompted the teams to promote their film the night of?
And truly, its a moot point to state that you didn't vote for the film for whatever reason, but thanks for sharing. Surely there are funnier more creative reasons to say why you didn't vote for it or like it.
Because in all honesty, considering the fact that the auditorium is filled with friends and family of the team members, it stands to reason and it SHOULD BE OBVIOUS that anyone's promotion on screening night, including our posters, is NOT going to sway or entice anyone to actually give us votes-- and if you actually thought for a second that we produced those posters thinking we were going to convince you or anyone to vote for us, then I don't know what to tell you...
But of course this is no place for real conversation (guess its just a dumping site for angry and spiteful grievances).
But I WOULD LOVE to know which film is yours and, posters or not, tell you what I like and think about it.
